Health Biotechnology

  • Graduates will have high levels of competence in the scientific and technical implementation and development of biotechnology applied in the healthcare sector and will be able to perform tasks of high responsibility
  • Internships will be carried out in affiliated, external organizations in Italy or abroad.
  • The international degree program offers a stimulating and dynamic learning environment.

The degree course allows to acquire knowledge about the structure and functions of the human body; carry out experimentation in biomedical and animal fields, with particular reference to the use of in vivo and in vitro models; diagnostics, through the management of molecular analysis technologies; structural and dynamic aspects of molecules of potential technological interest. It is possible to enrich the curriculum with bioinformatics knowledge in order to manage and access databases.

Students participate in competition examination. Admission requirements can be found in the admission announcement. Enrollment stages are the following:

  • Standard (September)
  • Postponed (October/December): if places are still available

After the publication of the final ranking, admitted students can enroll by paying the first fee instalment. Non-EU students can participate in a specific call (March / April); Pre-registration on universitaly.it is required

Course description

The degree course prepares graduates with a high level of biotechnological expertise that can be employed in the field of human health, in particular in biomedical research (molecular diagnostics, prenatal diagnosis, molecular genetics, including forensic science), biomedical and animal experimentation (use of models for the study of disease pathogenesis), identification and characterization of therapeutic molecular targets (drug development), use of bioinformatics for genomics and post-genomics. After passing the Examination Qualification, graduates can enroll in the Roll of Biologist (section A).

Bachelor degree holders in the Biotechnology degree class or in other classes, provided they fulfill specific curricular requirements. The latter, together with specific information on admission are provided in the course Regulations Short link: https://tinyurl.com/28jk2rjh

The degree course aims to provide advanced knowledge on emerging biotechnological methodologies to operate in the field of diagnostics, basic and applied research and therapeutic innovation, finding employment in facilities and companies in the biomedical and pharmaceutical sectors that deal with drug discovery.

Graduates can work in the field of basic and applied biomedical research, in the development and production of goods and services based on the application of innovative methodologies (e.g. in molecular diagnostics, cell and gene therapy, food analysis), and interact with specialists in the medical field.
